Economy & Earning Guide

Learn how to earn coins effectively and manage your resources to build the garden of your dreams.

Currency System

💰 Coins

Coins are the primary currency in Grow A Garden. You'll use them for almost everything.

How to get Coins:

  • Harvesting and selling crops.
  • Completing quests from NPCs.
  • Redeeming promo codes.
  • Selling items you don't need.

🍯 Honey

Honey is a special event currency introduced in the "Bizzy Bees" update. It is used to buy bee-themed items and pets.

How to get Honey:

  • Harvesting crops with the Bee mutation.
  • Completing special event quests.
  • Using items from the Bizzy Bees event.

Best Ways to Earn Coins

Early Game Strategy (First Hour)

  • Stick to Carrots: Plant and harvest carrots continuously. Their fast growth time (5 mins) provides a quick and steady income.
  • Redeem All Codes: Visit the Codes page and redeem all active codes for free seeds and coins. This is a massive boost.
  • First Upgrade - Watering Can: Your first major purchase should be upgrading the watering can. This lets you water multiple plots at once, saving significant time.
  • Buy Your First Pet Egg: As soon as you have enough coins (750), buy a basic pet egg. The passive bonus will increase your earnings over time.

Mid Game Strategy (Scaling Up)

  • Switch to Strawberries: Once your tools are upgraded, switch to strawberries. They are a multi-harvest crop, meaning you plant them once and can harvest from them multiple times. This is more efficient than constantly replanting carrots.
  • Expand Your Land: Reinvest your profits into buying more land plots. More land means more crops, which equals more money.
  • Upgrade Your Shovel: After the watering can, upgrade your shovel to harvest multiple crops at once.
  • Focus on Mutations: Pay attention to weather and pets that boost mutation chances. Golden and Rainbow mutations significantly increase crop value.

💡 Profit Tip

The most profitable crops are not always the ones with the highest sell price. Consider growth time and multi-harvest potential. A fast-growing, multi-harvest crop like Strawberries often earns more coins per hour than a slow-growing rare crop.

Smart Investment Priority

⚠️ General Rule

Always prioritize upgrading tools over buying more expensive seeds or land you can't manage efficiently. Better tools make everything faster.

  1. Upgrade Watering Can: This should always be your #1 priority.
  2. Buy a Basic Pet: Get a pet early for its long-term passive bonuses.
  3. Upgrade Shovel: Your second tool upgrade for faster harvesting.
  4. Expand Land: Once your tools can handle it, start buying more plots.
  5. Buy Better Seeds: Only after the above should you start investing in more expensive seeds for higher returns.
